In conjunction with SATA’s mission to promote healthy living among Singaporeans, Trinax created a Smart Posture Detection Machine that gave citizens a 30-second challenge to repeatedly sit and stand to determine their body’s physical health.
What is the Experience?
As the population ages in Singapore, it becomes increasing necessary to ensure that senior citizens lead a healthy lifestyle. A recent challenge beckoned Singaporeans to attempt a one legged stand from a seated position, arms crossed, to test their body’s physical health. In a similar vein, SATA commissioned a project with Trinax to test the body strength of senior citizens through a 30-second sit-to-stand challenge. The number of stands they did would determine their physical health, and if they should exercise on a frequent basis.
This community event ascertains the physical mobility of senior citizens in Singapore and advises them to keep themselves healthy and participate in regular exercise.
An LED touchscreen and a motion detection camera is installed into a compact kiosk with decals promoting lifelong health and SATA branding. The user’s are requested to sit on a chair facing the screen for calibration and will then proceed with the standing challenge. In 30 seconds, they are to stand and sit from the chair as many times as possible; one repetition counts as 1 point and will be detected using the motion sensing camera. At the end of the experience, their score will be evaluated with a table that shows the minimum score, according to age, that a senior citizen should be able to do.
