What is the Experience?
The Dream Lab offers a dynamic and immersive journey that invites participants to actively shape the future of Singapore’s urban landscape. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by sleek digital displays and a welcoming message encouraging them to “Reimagine Our City Together.”
Participants start by choosing a persona that reflects their identity or lifestyle — such as “Caring Kaki” or “All-Access Commuter.” This step personalizes the journey and aligns the choices they make with their selected role, helping them think from a specific perspective.
Next, they are prompted to choose a site on a digital map, selecting real planning areas across Singapore where they’d like to contribute their ideas. These sites are part of ongoing development or enhancement under URA’s Draft Master Plan 2025.
The core of the experience lies in the interactive questionnaire powered by generative AI. Participants respond to questions about their priorities, needs, and desired amenities — from green rooftops and cafes to inclusive spaces and playgrounds.
As users make their selections, the system compiles their responses and generates conceptual plans or visions for the selected area. These AI-generated ideas are presented in real time through visually engaging renderings or descriptions, giving users immediate feedback on how their inputs translate into urban design.
Finally, users can explore ideas contributed by others and see how collective input is shaping planning directions. This adds a community-building layer to the experience, encouraging reflection and shared ownership of the city’s future.
To engage and empower the public in co-creating Singapore’s future urban spaces by gathering feedback through interactive, AI-powered experiences.
The Dream Lab interactive exhibition works by guiding visitors through a series of digital touchpoints designed to gather public input on future urban developments in Singapore. It begins with users selecting a persona that represents their lifestyle or role in the community, such as a caregiver or commuter. This persona personalizes the experience and influences the design choices presented later.
Participants then choose a real location on a digital map—such as Tampines Central 5 or Yio Chu Kang MRT Node—where they would like to propose ideas. They answer a short set of questions about what features, amenities, or design elements matter most to them, such as greenery, inclusive spaces, or recreational areas.
Using this input, the system leverages generative AI to instantly produce visual concepts and narratives that reflect the user’s vision. These concepts simulate how the space could evolve based on community needs.
